Beepers & Big Bangs – A GenX Interview

This week starts a brand new segment on Moxie Beautiful. It is an interview series/segment of various people I know from the Generation-X era.

Beepers & Big Bangs – A GenX Interview

I have created a wide-variety of questions and the Gen-Xer can select 5 to 7 of those questions they want to answer.

So, without further ado, here is the first ever Beepers & Big Bangs Generation-X interview.

cassy pAllow me to introduce Cassy P. – the one who came up with the title of this new segment; Beepers & Big Bangs. Thank you Cassy!

A Child of the 80’s and Teen of the 90’s, Cassy loves all things girly and 90’s big hair bands. Trying to live the life of motherhood with a resemblance of grace, dignity and most importantly her sanity.

What do you remember about the politics of those days?
My grandparents loved Ronald Regan so we watched any and everything that had to do with him. I can remember being a little girl and them telling me to get on the “davenport” and to be quite and just watch. As a little girl, I remember thinking that he was so scary and that he was behind the biggest desk ever! Looking back, I guess it’s because it was always such a serious event for my grandparents. My grandfather was born and raised in Germany so when the Berlin Wall came down, that was another impressionable time in my house. Fast forward several years and I remember the Senior class boys in my school graduating and leaving for the first Gulf War.

How did you deal with bullies back then?
Basically, I wasn’t allowed to start any trouble at school but was told I could always defend myself and handle it, if necessary.

Favorite video game?
Contra for Nintendo and yes I still remember the cheat for unlimited lives.

Did you have after school activities?
I played Volleyball

Did you work a part time job? Where? What?
Once I started driving, I had a job at TruGreen Chemlawn as a Telemarketer.

What was your favorite television show?
That’s a tough one, I’d have to say it’s probably a tie between Charles in Charge and Beverly Hills 90210

What was on your mixed tape?
Poison, Skid Row, Guns n’ Roses, Motley Crew.

What is the one thing you would tell your younger self if you could go back in time Marty?
Try everything you feel like trying and don’t be so scared. Explore, travel, dance and laugh more. Hold your first true love in your arms longer and relish every moment because they don’t last forever. Know that this life is finite and so much shorter than we want it to be.

Favorite Saturday Night Live character?
Hans and Franz – we’re here to puuuuump….. you up!

And finally, beeper or big bangs?
Big Bangs and a Beeper of course!
