Now, more about the blogger….
Party girl, self-absorbed, selfishness – that was the root of all my problems. Basically, I was a drunk. My main concern was going to the party, having a good time, feeling good. Except I never did feel good. I drank way too much, hung around with all the wrong people most of the time, did things I would not normally do if I were sober, and I never developed true and meaningful relationships. I was oblivious to everything and everyone around me. Frankly, I am surprised I am alive today to tell you about it.
Finally sobered up, settled down, married, and a family was built. We lived the American dream; bought a house, started a business, and I was a stay-at-home-mom for 10-years. The wind stopped blowing and I began to notice other people and the world around me. I matured and learned about responsibility, and I was happy. Very happy. And sober. Experienced a spiritual awakening. This is also the timeframe when I started blogging.
Right before I turned 40, I was slapped with the title of widow and was suddenly the lone parent of two young children; ages 8 and 10 at the time. Terrified, I got up and started doing stuff afraid. Went back to school for a short period of time, then eventually back into the corporate world. By now, I was a working parent of two young teens. Eventually, I found someone to take all three of us on and I married again, to the man I refer to on the blog from time to time as The Gent.
Later this year, I will be 50-years old. What does that look like for me? I have an idea. I am working a plan to make that idea a reality. I still have a ton of stuff left in life I want to do. This blog, will be a part of recording that journey.
Once a gritty reckless youth, to a regular sober but still flawed parent, to a career-minded working woman facing empty-nest syndrome and now discovering passions hidden within, this is me sharing part of my life with you on my blog.
Trying to be authentic with…..
A little bit of grit + a little bit of glamour = a charmingly bold GenX blogger.
