Big Confession
Previous post

Well, I didn’t make my 2011 Reading Goal which was to read 24 books in one year. I started off well but by mid year I fizzled. When the book club I helped create went under that’s when my reading stopped. I read a total of 16 books in 2011. Trust me, that is more than I’ve read in my entire 30s.

However, there is a new reading group that is developing and I’m not in charge of it, thankfully. Also, Stephenie at the Madison Public Library has thrown out a new challenge. At first I turned it down but then I thought, “Oh heck, why not, it will give me something to strive for at least.”

So let the reading begin. Here’s what I have in the queue:

Driven To Distraction (nonfiction) by Dr. John Ratey and Dr. Edward Hallowell
The Girl In The Gatehouse by Julie Klassen
New York by Edward Rutherfurd
And I need to finish The Paris Wife by Paula McClain

These are the books I read in 2011. Find me on Good Reads.

  • Stephenie says:

I’m SO glad you’re doing the challenge! I’m nervous about it but I think we both have a great chance at making it happen.

  • Kory Wells says:

Being an avid reader is an important part of being a good writer, so it’s good you’re setting these goals!

So I’m curious – which of these books you read in 2011 were among your favorites? Is that coming in a future blog post (hope, hope)?

My absolute favorite fiction I read in 2011 was The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.

    • c.a. Marks says:

Yes, I’m ashamed of not reading like I should. I do love to read, it’s just making myself sit still.

    • c.a. Marks says:

Hey Cory, I was just looking at The Night Circus the other day! Was looking to add it to my list in 2012. Good to know you liked it. And as far as my favorite out of these? It’s hard to pick. I’d have to say either Sarah’s Key, Breaking Night, or Eat, Pray, Love.
